Appeals


An appeal is the legal process used to ask a higher court to review a judgment made in a legal matter from the trial court. Anyone who is party to a case may file an appeal.

The Court of Appeals external website has information about the Civil, Criminal, and Juvenile appeals processes. Please explore the Related Links on this page for more information.

For information on how to appeal a decision from a Justice or Municipal court, please contact that originating court for further instructions. The appeal must be filed in that originating court.

For Civil appeals from lower courts and Civil traffic appeals, after the originating court files the documents in our office, we notify the Appellant that the Superior Court filing fee is due within 30 days. If the Superior Court filing fee is not paid within 30 days, the Superior Court shall dismiss the appeal.

For information about a traffic ticket or fine please contact the court shown on your ticket.
